Pro tips

  • Keep faces and key text away from the cut lines — check the gaps in the preview before you download.
  • Instagram previews profile grids in portrait, so 4:5 tiles usually get cropped less on your profile than squares.
  • Post the whole grid in one sitting: a half-finished puzzle looks broken to anyone visiting your profile.
  • Give every tile its own caption and hashtags — each one is a regular post that can reach people on its own.
  • Start from a high-resolution image (at least 3,240 px wide) so every 1080 px tile stays sharp.

FAQ

Every tile exports as a PNG at Instagram's native resolutions: 1080×1350 px in portrait (4:5) or 1080×1080 px in square (1:1). You can post them straight away, no resizing needed.
Instagram shows your newest post first (top-left), so post in reverse: start with the highest-numbered tile (bottom-right) and finish with tile 1 (top-left). The tool reminds you of this order under the preview, and each file is named by its row and column.
No. Each tile is cut straight from your original image and exported as a lossless PNG. For the sharpest result, start from an image at least 3,240 px wide so every tile keeps its full 1080 px resolution.
