How it works

Pro tips
- On X, every link costs a flat 23 characters no matter its real length — that leaves you 257 for the actual message.
- X also weights most emoji as two characters, so keep a small safety margin when a post with emoji sits close to 280.
- Instagram shows roughly the first 125 characters of a caption before the "… more" fold — put the hook there.
- LinkedIn truncates feed posts around 210 characters before "…see more" — make those first lines stand on their own.
- Facebook allows 63,206 characters, but that's a ceiling, not a target: shorter posts get read all the way through.
